about ru
I was born in freewheeling, sunny Marin County in 1967 where I finger-painted with mud at an experimental preschool, shimmied up ropes, and daydreamed.
Ever since, I have loved making things. It's a good way to practice self-acceptance and self-care. When I sculpt and draw, I feel connected to the long line of humanity.
I've had some formal art training at UC Davis and at the Academy of Art in SF, and I've learned from many teachers both locally and online. I mainly work at my kitchen table.
I'm also an EMDR therapist seeing clients in California. www.ruthfankushentherapy.com
I recently wrote a guided therapy journal called "A Guided Guidebook to Yourself: Connect with Your True Self to Transform Your Life." It's full of helpful EMDR therapy-related exercises that I have used and shared with my therapy clients for years. It's for people who want to learn how to cope with anxiety, pain, and problems related to negative self-beliefs, lack of confidence, and rejection sensitivity. You can learn to speak up, take up space, practice better self-care, and be kinder to yourself. The book has positive writing prompts designed to transform your life by highlighting the positives of you so you can really know in your body and emotions what has felt good and right to you, thereby strengthening your positive neural connections.
